The methodology for monitoring the number of cattle developed by Austrian scientists is being actively introduced into the work of the Oktyabrskoye agricultural enterprise, which is based in the Zonal District of Altai.
In March, Austrian chips began to implant in the scars of Altai cows, which provide farm analysts with comprehensive information about the condition and location of animals.
To date, ten cows are “equipped” with new chips. The chip does not deliver any discomfort or other side effects to the animals, cattle breeders assure.
It is important to note that the cost of these chips is relatively low. So, each sensor costs the administration of the Oktyabrskoye enterprise eight thousand rubles. Based on information provided by Austrian developers, the life of each chip exceeds four years.
The Center for Technological Development, a certified distributor of Austrian chips in the Russian Federation, provided the Altai farm with a special reading device for free, which receives information from sensors inside the cows and sends it to the device’s analysts.
In particular, the director of Oktyabrsky is engaged in processing the data received from the chips through his mobile phone and the chief livestock specialist through the computer. According to them, thanks to the “scar devices” they know what acidity is in the stomachs of chipped cows, how active are the individuals, and when they begin the period of sexual hunting.
