Disruption of the endocrine system is the price that mankind has to pay for the benefits of civilization, because it is the thyroid gland, which provides hormonal regulation of the work of all internal organs, that reacts most painfully to poor ecology, constant stress and other negative factors in the daily life of modern society. Pathologies of the thyroid gland require expensive treatment and are sometimes really dangerous, so you need to try to prevent them, including by including the right products in the diet. How to help the endocrine gland to effectively perform its functions with buckwheat, walnuts and honey - below in the review.
The benefits and harms of honey, buckwheat and walnuts
The idea of “revitalizing” the thyroid gland with the help of a six-week course of taking in equal proportions of buckwheat, honey and nuts was expressed by Gennady Malakhov in his book “Health Tips for Women Every Day”who saw the light in 2015. To the masses, a magic remedy in combination with an equally miraculous compress from seaweed became known thanks to one of the telecasts of the Malakhov + cycle (before renaming it, “Good Health!”). The program was broadcast on the First Russian Channel on February 7, 2018, and from that time on, the combination “honey, nuts and buckwheat - treatment of the thyroid gland” can be read and heard in many sources.
The aforesaid, however, does not mean that the complex of the listed products does not carry any benefit in itself and cannot be included in the diet for the general strengthening of immunity, improvement of well-being and, in particular, stabilization of the endocrine system. It is only about the fact that it can not be treated as an effective medicine for an already existing pathology. This is all the more important to understand that diseases of the endocrine system can have a very different nature, and the problem is not always eliminated due to proper nutrition.
Important! The vast majority of scientists from medicine and practicing doctors consider the recommendations of Gennady Malakhov pseudoscientific, and the former electrician, later the showman and blogger, as an ordinary charlatan.
So, thyroid diseases are functional or structural. In the first case, the organ looks normal, but it does not work correctly. As a rule, we are talking about the imbalance of the hormones produced by the thyroid gland, primarily thyrotropic, which, in turn, is responsible for the synthesis of two other important substances - triiodothyronine and thyroxine. For example, a disease in which thyroid hormones are produced in greater quantities than is necessary for the normal functioning of the body is called hyperthyroidism, toxic goiter or Bazedovy disease, their insufficient production is called hypothyroidism, and a condition characterized by the fact that thyroid hormones are produced, but then die , - destructive thyrotoxicosis.
The second category of pathologies is associated with visible changes in the thyroid gland - the organ grows in size, cavities, nodes, cysts and other neoplasms appear in its tissues, sometimes having a malignant nature. A special kind of endocrine disruption is manifested in the fact that the body for unknown reasons begins to produce antibodies to thyroid tissue, as a result of which the organ is gradually destroyed. This pathology is called autoimmune thyroiditis.
Important! If there are primary or secondary signs of an endocrine disruption, you should immediately contact a specialist, undergo a comprehensive examination and establish an accurate diagnosis, based on which adequate treatment should be prescribed. Buckwheat, honey, nuts and other folk methods are absolutely inappropriate here.
Nevertheless, it must be recognized that most functional disorders of the thyroid gland are associated with a lack of organic iodine in the body. Since the main source of this element is seafood, for residents of those countries where such food is not the main component of the diet, iodine deficiency is a normal condition.
That is why doctors recommend as much as possible to use as many products containing iodine as a preventive measure., as well as other components that the thyroid gland “likes”. However, if functional disorders are manifested in the excessive production of endocrine hormones, the amount of iodine in the diet, on the contrary, must be reduced. By the way, it is an excess of iodine, as established by scientists, that is the main reason for the development of autoimmune thyroiditis.
Thus, the basic rule has to be repeated again: it is impossible to treat the thyroid gland with a special diet without the direct appointment of a doctor, but this method can be used for prevention, in order to reduce the likelihood of potential disorders in the functioning of the body. To understand how buckwheat can stimulate the endocrine system, nuts and honey, you need to know exactly which components provide this process and whether it is possible to make up for their deficiency in the body due to the listed products.
For clarity, the basic information is collected in the form of a table:
A component necessary for the proper functioning of the endocrine system | Main functions | Products that are the best supplier of a substance to the body |
Iodine | It is part of thyroxine (4 atoms) and triiodothyronine (2 atoms). The body itself is not synthesized | Iodized salt, seaweed, oily fish, meat, milk, eggs |
Selenium | Participates in the formation of hormones and produces enzymes that activate these hormones | Seafood, liver, sprouted grains, broccoli, Brazil nut |
Cobalt | Regulates metabolic processes, increases the activity of iodine peroxidase | Fish and seafood |
Manganese | Provides neurohormonal regulation | Nuts, cereals and cereals, bran |
Copper | Participates in the production of thyroxine | Liver, oysters, nuts |
Vitamin A | Acts as an intermediary in the regulation of hormonal balance | Carrot, spinach |
B vitamins | Take an active part in enzymatic reactions. | Meat, seafood, eggs, milk |
Vitamin E | Provides the absorption of iodine and selenium, stimulates the production of thyroid stimulating hormone | Dried fruits, nuts, vegetable oils, cod liver |
Vitamin D | Reduces the likelihood of developing autoimmune thyroiditis | Fish oil, mushrooms, cod liver |
From the table above it is clearly seen that the combination of "buckwheat, honey, walnuts" objectively cannot be called the most successful combination for the thyroid gland. In any case, all these products significantly lose in most of the components most important for the endocrine system to fish and other seafood.
And yet, as an element of a healthy and balanced diet, dishes prepared with the above ingredients can and should be included in the diet, especially since a certain dose of vitamins and minerals that stimulate the production of thyroid-stimulating and other thyroid hormones is contained in buckwheat and nuts, and in honey, namely:
Component Name | Content in the “cure for Malakhov” |
Iodine | Buckwheat (3.3 mcg), walnut (3.1 mcg), honey (2 mcg) |
Selenium | Buckwheat (5.7 mcg), walnut (4.9 mcg) |
Cobalt | Buckwheat (3.1 mcg), walnut (7.3 mcg), honey (0.3 mcg) |
Manganese | Buckwheat (1.56 mg), walnut (1.9 mg), honey (0.03 mg) |
Copper | Buckwheat (640 mcg), walnut (527 mcg), honey (60 mcg) |
Vitamin A | Buckwheat (2 mcg), walnut (8 mcg) |
B vitamins | Buckwheat (B1, B2, B3, B9), walnut (B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6, B9), honey (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9) |
Vitamin E | Buckwheat (0.8 mg), walnut (2.6 mg) |
Vitamin D | - |
Contraindications
Of the three products present in the remedy recommended by G. Malakhov for the treatment of the thyroid gland, buckwheat is the safest. This cereal has practically no contraindications, although, strangely enough, an allergy can even arise on it. With caution, it is worth approaching the use of buckwheat for people with increased blood coagulability, since buckwheat seeds contain a large number of plant polyphenols that can aggravate this dangerous condition.
In addition, since the “healing” recipe involves the use of cereals not in boiled, but in raw form, such a component of the drug, which is unusual for the body, can cause intestinal disorders - both in the form of constipation and in the form of diarrhea (the latter option is more likely with the use of germinated grains). But there is no gluten in buckwheat, so intolerance to this protein is not a contraindication for its use.
Did you know? The thyroid gland or its similar analogue producing thyroid hormones is present in all vertebrates without exception. This is one of the few organs that are found in fish, and in reptiles, and in mammals.
Nuts and honey are highly allergenic products. This means that to treat the thyroid gland with the help of Malakhov’s prescription can not everyone who has an individual intolerance to any of these components of the drug.
- In addition, nuts and honey are contraindicated in conditions such as:
- diabetes;
- overweight tendency;
- pathology of the gastrointestinal tract, especially in the acute stage;
- chronic diseases of the cardiovascular system;
- rheumatism;
- lung diseases;
- skin diseases of unknown nature;
- problems with the kidneys or gall bladder, including gallstone and urolithiasis, cholecystitis, etc.
- As for the general precautions for using the recipe, they should include in their list:
- the presence of any undiagnosed problems with the endocrine system;
- pregnancy (due to the lack of reliable information about the possible consequences);
- children's age (for the same reasons).
Recipe
The classic recipe “from Malakhov” involves the use of raw buckwheat, peeled walnuts and liquid honey in the same ratio.
You need to prepare a drug like this:
- Grind the grits in a coffee grinder.
- Pass the kernels through a meat grinder.
- In a clean enameled or glass dish, mix both ingredients, add honey, mix well again until a homogeneous mass resembles porridge.
- Transfer the mixture to a glass jar, cover. Keep refrigerated.
So that the product does not deteriorate, it must be prepared in reasonable quantities. For the initial course, it is recommended to take one glass of each of the three ingredients.
Did you know? While bread is absorbed by the human body by 85%, and potatoes by 89%, honey is completely absorbed, without residue, by 100%.
There are several variations of the recipe. In particular, in some sources you can find a recommendation to use less honey. since this ingredient, with all its usefulness, is extremely allergenic and, in addition, contains a very high amount of sugar. At the same time, honey is not included in the list of products with scientifically proven effectiveness for improving the functioning of the thyroid gland (as can be clearly seen from the table above, it is honey that contains the least essential vitamins and minerals that are essential for the functioning of the organ).
On the other hand, it is appropriate to compensate for the decrease in the proportion of honey with dried fruits, which are very useful not only for the endocrine, but also for the cardiovascular and digestive systems. In particular, chopped raisins, dried apricots, prunes, apricots, figs, dates, and any other dryer can be used in this capacity.
Another modification of the classic formulation relates to cereals. In addition to the familiar brown kernel, today you can find green buckwheat on sale. Its main feature is in the pre-treatment method. Green grains are cleaned and dried, but not fried, as a result, not only practically all vitamins, minerals and other biologically active components are stored in them, but also a viable embryo remains. Green buckwheat, unlike brown, can be sprouted, while scientists have definitely established that in this form the useful properties of cereals increase many times over.Did you know? The influence of thyroid hormone on the growth and development of living organisms was discovered by chance. This happened in Munich in 1911, when the biologist Frederick Gudernach fed the tadpoles with fragments of the horse’s thyroid gland during the experiment, after which experimental larvae began to form in adult frogs almost before their eyes.
It turns out that the awakening of the embryo is accompanied by serious chemical transformations within the seed: the nutrients necessary for the growth and development of the future plant take on the form that is most convenient for easy absorption, and those components that are responsible for the “conservation” of these nutrients and, accordingly, carry not so much benefit, how much harm to the body - on the contrary, are destroyed and neutralized.
Thus, in order to obtain the maximum result, it is best to use green buckwheat rather than brown buckwheat in the preparation of the potion, and before grind the grits in a coffee grinder, it needs to be germinated.Important! Buckwheat germinated can not be stored for a long time, so when using green cereal potion should be prepared in such a way that it can be fully implemented for a maximum of three days.
This process takes no more than a day:
- First, the nucleus is simply poured with water and all grains and impurities that rise to the surface are thoroughly cleaned.
- After 3-4 hours, the water should be drained and rinsed well with cereals in order to get rid of the formed mucus.
- Then, no longer pouring fresh water, leave buckwheat at room temperature for another 20 hours.
- After this time, each seed should have a tiny "nose" - the bud of the future root. This is the completed stage of germination.
As for walnuts, they can be replaced with hazelnuts or almonds; these kernels also contain a large amount of iodine. Pine nuts and cashews are a good alternative, especially since in the latter the iodine content is three times higher than in walnuts.
Method of application and proportions
Gennady Malakhov advises taking the prepared product according to 1 tbsp. l three times a day before meals for a month and a half. At the same time, a fasting day should be arranged once a week, during which you can’t eat anything except buckwheat-honey-nut mixture, and you can use it in any quantities. Of the drinks on this day, only tea and clean water are allowed.
At the end of the course, a monthly break is performed, after which the procedure is repeated again. In total, thus, the treatment process takes 4 months and leads to a noticeable improvement - the thyroid gland decreases to normal size, swelling on the neck decreases, overall health is stabilized, immunity is strengthened.
Thyroid pathology - the problem is too serious to frivolously try to solve it by correcting the diet. Honey, nuts and buckwheat porridge contain many useful substances and therefore, in the absence of individual intolerance, they can be included in one form or another in the diet for the general strengthening of the body, improving the functioning of its organs and systems. But consider these products as a panacea, with which you can cure a specific disease, definitely not worth it.
