Due to worsening weather conditions, the Kherson region may be left without a harvest of cherries, said the head of the Association of Farmers and Private Land Owners of the Kherson Region Nikolai Halupenko.
The future harvest of cherries in the Kherson region was in jeopardy. Trees bloom, but pollination does not occur, since the bees do not fly out of the hives in cold and rainy weather. Last year, spring was warmer and softer, which brought the region's gardeners a good harvest of berries and fruits.
In one of the Kherson private farms, the apple harvest was so luxurious that fruits were sold at 1 UAH / kg, subject to pickup. This spring is experiencing flowering trees for strength. On April 10, a cold snap began and there was almost constant rain in the Kherson region. So, in just one day on April 15, in the Golopristan district, precipitation fell more than a monthly norm. Bees managed to pollinate the flowers of peaches and cherries before the onset of cold weather, and apricots bloomed even earlier.
If precipitation stops and there is no prolonged rain, a good harvest can be expected. But in the event that there is frost in the air, the ovaries of apricots can crumble.Recall that in the second half of April 2017 there was a sharp cooling with snow falling in many regions of the country. By that time, peaches, apricots and plums had already bloomed in the south of Ukraine. They suffered from the cold, there was practically no harvest.
