Recently, plastic bottles have become an innovative trend in construction. Increasingly, craftsmen, looking for a replacement for traditional building materials, are adapting PVC containers to the case. From it have already learned to build fences, greenhouses, gazebos and even houses. Moreover, the most difficult task in this process is the collection of the bottles themselves.
Which plastic bottles are best used
For construction, you can use any PVC-bucks. If it is not possible to collect containers of any particular color - it does not matter, you can put mosaic elements from the bottles or paint them inside with the desired color with acrylic paint (just shake the paint and let it dry, just pour the remaining mixture into the next container).
For 1 m² of vertical fastening (baclars are piled on top of each other), 40 bottles of 1.5 liters will be left. Such a building material is the most optimal. You can use 2-liter containers (they will need slightly less) or combine bottles of different volumes on different elements of the gazebo. Friends or a nearby cafe can help collect plastic containers for building a gazebo (you can buy this building material for a penny).
Design
The construction of an unusual gazebo should begin with a drawing. To do this, you need to decide on the choice of place, the size of the future altanka, the method of its installation (type of foundation, foundation, roof, etc.) and assembly technology.
At this stage, the number of bottles needed for construction is determined (as a rule, they must be at least 500 pcs.), Color, design features, etc. All this needs to be embodied in a sketch, after which you can begin preparation for construction.
Arbor frame options:
The most common method of constructing such structures is vertical fastening. The structure at the same time turns out to be mobile and light - accordingly, it does not need a heavy foundation.
If you do not plan to use the gazebo in the cold season, you can build it from a wooden beam with a cross section of 100 × 100 mm, metal profiles or fittings are also suitable. You can fill the classic strip foundation.
Important! The experts consider the columnar option to be the best option for the foundation for the gazebo, it cancels a number of painstaking earthworks.
Site selection and preparation
One of the main criteria for choosing a place for altanka is the view that opens from it. It is important that this was not a plot in the open sun. An ideal place is in the garden shade, in a place protected from drafts.
It is important to take care of the convenience of the approach and the location of the tracks near the gazebo. It will be successful to place it near the flowerbed. If there is an artificial or natural body of water nearby, this will be an additional bonus.
Step-by-step construction instructions
If you have accumulated enough 1.5-liter tanks, you can start construction. There are many ways to implement it. The first option is the vertical fastening of empty bottles assembled in the necessary design.
The second method is more time consuming. For its implementation, containers are filled with sand, sawdust or other improvised material. In this case, they play the role of bricks and are connected to the structure using masonry. Having decided on the place and laying the foundation, you can begin construction.
Wall mounting
In the first case, to create an altanka you will need:
- wire;
- pieces of reinforcement;
- small pebble and sand;
- wooden beam or other material to build supports and frame;
- plywood;
- metal profiles and pipes;
- small nails;
- sharp scissors;
- hacksaw for metal and wood;
- pliers, screwdrivers and screws;
- plumb and furniture stapler;
- shovel.
Before starting work, do not forget to treat the tree with anti-rot and insect repellents.
Progress:
- If you have collected containers with labels or are not in perfect condition, you must first wash them. To do this, they are soaked for a couple of hours in warm water with soda. Then the labels are removed from the container, rinsed well and dried.
- After drying, the container must be sorted by color, at this stage it can be painted in the desired color.
- Now it is necessary to install the supports, according to the developed drawing. To do this, dig holes up to 1 m around the perimeter. Install supports, checking the vertical by a plumb line. They are strengthened with construction waste (broken brick or stone, etc.), poured with a solution of cement.
- After 2-3 days, you can proceed with the installation of the frame. For it, you can use a bar with a smaller section (50 × 50). The harness is mounted from horizontal bars using self-tapping screws: near the ground, at the tops of vertical bars, and additionally - at a height of 1 m.
If you plan a complex structure with windows and doors:
- The necessary elements are made in the design.
- To create the walls of the gazebo by the method of vertical fastening, the bottom of the bottles is cut off and put one by one on the neck of the other, screwing them tightly. For reliability, the mount can be fixed with tape or a stapler. This creates a column of the desired height, through which you need to pass the wire (neck).
- Fasten the ends of the wire to the lower and upper harnesses. So, from these columns, a wall gradually looms.
For the construction of a heavier structure, it is better to collect bottles of a smaller volume:
- After marking the site and pouring the foundation, the casing is mounted.
- For supports in this case, iron pipes of 50–70 mm are used. The strapping is made of thin pipes or a metal strip about 4 cm wide - here you can not do without a welding machine.
- Further work is based on the principle of masonry (staggered): filled bottles are laid out on the solution layer, while the necks should be laid in one direction. To give the structure strength, the layers of cement need to be shifted with the remnants of wire, reinforcement, etc.
- Passing the next row near the harness, you should “tie” it to the pipe to give rigidity to the arbor.
Did you know? Having collected more than a million plastic bottles, Canadian architect Robert Bezo, amazed by their large concentration in the Panama Islands, created an entire plastic village out of them.
Roof
The roof can be made both from plastic bottles and from special non-heavy roofing materials - polycarbonate, slate, corrugated board, etc. The roof from the reeds will look spectacular. To do this, pre-assemble the roof frame. To make the main cover of plastic bottles, sheets are cut out of them, cutting off the necks and bottom.
They can be straightened with an iron, ironed through thick paper, or placed in hot (not boiling water!) Water under oppression. You can simply flatten the bottles, preheating them in the sun or in any other convenient way. Get a kind of plastic tile.
An asphalt roller can be used to flatten large quantities of plastic containers. They install such a roof using screws from the bottom up, in several layers, fixing the PVC modules to a moisture-resistant base - plywood or other wood-composite material.
In this way, you get an excellent strong roof. When assembling a gable roof, it is necessary to take care of reliable protection of the central joint. The skate can be made from halves of bottles superimposed on each other and fastened with a stapler.
Did you know? The first plastic bottle appeared in 1970 in the USA, and in 1974 the Novorossiysk brewery first began pouring its products into such containers.
From PVC sheets, the roof is mounted on the same principle. From bottles without necks and a bottom, you can create a wave-like tile, "folding" the leaves as if in the opposite direction or gluing the halves overlapping so that a "wave" is obtained. Then mount according to the described method.
Features of building a gazebo from glass bottles
A gazebo made of glass bottles will look much more spectacular. The principles of its construction differ little from the method using filled PVC containers. It is worth considering that this process will be more time-consuming, and take care that the created building does not collapse under its own weight.
Traditionally, champagne bottles are used for such construction, laying them with the neck inside. Given that the angles in this construction are not ideal, it is better to form them without the use of bottles. Individual walls made of glass containers also look good.
People do not think about the fact that many waste that is disposed of in tons in dumps can become reliable and almost free building material. Using them, you not only significantly save your money. You save the environment from pollution and, giving a free flight of your imagination, you can create unique elements of the country landscape and outbuildings.
