White House National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow said Tuesday, July 9, that China is expected to continue purchasing agricultural products from the United States.
Larry Kudlow also said that US President Donald Trump agreed not to introduce any new tariffs during a meeting last month with Chinese President Xi Jinping, but expects China to “conscientiously” purchase US agricultural products such as soy and wheat.
At the same time, Kudlow later told reporters that there are no specific dates for the purchase of agricultural products or for reaching an agreement.
“No deadlines. Quality, not speed, ”added the director of the White House National Economic Council.
Washington and Beijing agreed to resume negotiations during the G20 summit in Japan last month, which eased concerns that a trade war marked by duties between the two largest economies in the world could escalate.
Kudlow said leading negotiators from the United States and China this week will negotiate by telephone, and personal meetings will be held soon.
