Often in home gardens, the owners install a gazebo. This is a great option for relaxing in the fresh air in the summer. The gazebo protects from rain and bright sunlight. You can buy it, but you can do it yourself. The main thing is to determine the dimensions and choose the material for its construction.
Optimum arbor height
The gazebo should be comfortable and fit into the general stylistic concept of the summer cottage, so it is very important that its height and size correspond.
Important! The optimal height of the gazebo from the overhang of the roof to the floor should be at least 2.2 m, but this parameter should not be confused with the height of the ridge.
When determining the optimal height of the structure, it is necessary to take into account a number of factors:
- planned area. It is necessary to determine for what purpose a gazebo is needed, and how many people should fit in it. Area is determined at the rate of 2 m² per person;
- construction form. It has the least effect on height, but still it should also be taken into account. In a small rectangular building, it is enough to make the ceiling height 2.2-2.3 m, and in a multifaceted building designed for at least 10 people, the ceiling should be about 3 m high, otherwise it will look low and will be uncomfortable in it;
- roof structure. Sloping - suitable for the construction of any shape, the height should be at least 2 m. The gable or roof in the form of a tent implies that the height values do not depend on their shape. Moreover, the optimal roof height in each case may be far from the standards;
- material used for construction. If the structure is constructed of light material, for example, metal plastic, then it creates a feeling of large space and its dimensions may be as small as possible. If the gazebo is built of stone or brick, then its walls take up much more space and it looks more massive, so the ceiling should be (preferably) as high as possible.

There is no strict standard regarding ceiling height, but there is some limitation. The distance between the floor and the ceiling should not be less than 1.9 m, otherwise it will be difficult for a tall person to enter it.
If you comply with the standard, then with respect to the floor, the ceiling should be at a distance of 2.2 m. With a small and medium area of the house for relaxation this will be enough. In large buildings, the ceiling height should be 2.5-3 m.

In a personal plot, they try to use every meter of land, planting various plants and breaking paths. If the yard is small, but you want to equip at least a small corner for relaxation, you can install a small structure (for two or four people). It will take a little space, but there will be a cozy area for families.
If there is enough free space on the site, you can build a larger structure.

Small
These include structures ranging from 4 to 12 m². Their sizes are: 2 × 2, 3 × 3, 3 × 4 m and they are provided for a maximum of 6 people. The most oversized building (2 × 2 m) is designed for 2 people. It is perfect for evening tea parties.
The table in the gazebo should be of such a size that there is not only room for two benches, but also free movement. For a 2 × 2 m structure, a table of 50 × 70 cm is quite suitable. If the area allows, you can make the building a little more spacious - 2 × 3 m, in this case the dimensions of the table can be 50 × 100 cm.
The gazebo 3 × 3 m is more spacious and 6 people can freely accommodate in it, and if you put a round table with a diameter of 180 cm, then you can “plant” 10 people. A rectangular table, which is ideal for the construction of such dimensions, should have a size of 60 × 80 cm. Up to 8 people can be accommodated in a 3 × 4 m building, a 80 × 120 cm table will freely become in it.
Important! When choosing the size of the gazebo should take into account the area of the plot and the size of the residential building. The smaller they are, the more compact the structure should be, otherwise it will look inappropriate against the background of garden architecture.
Medium
This type includes buildings with an area of 10 to 20 m², which can easily accommodate 10-15 people. The optimal size of structures of this type is 3 × 5 m or 4 × 4 m. For them, tables 110 cm wide and 260-360 cm long are suitable.
More guests can be seated at the round or oval table. The countertop should be at least 170 cm in diameter. An oval-shaped piece of furniture can be the same size as a rectangular one, but due to the rounded corners of the seats there will be more.
Large
Arbours with a size of 5 × 5 m, 5 × 6 m, 5 × 7 m and 6 × 6 m are considered large. Their area is more than 20 m² and capacity is from 20 people. Such facilities should be installed if you often have large companies.
Dimensional buildings take up a lot of space and are more suitable for owners of extensive personal plots. For buildings of this scale, you will need tables 110-120 cm wide and about 4 m long, rectangular or oval in shape, which will harmoniously look in the interior.
It doesn’t matter what size the gazebo will be, it can also have a not quite standard look, but the main thing is that the erected structure does not look ridiculous against the general background of the site and is comfortable to be in.
