This year, 999 thousand crops were sown in the fields of the Chernihiv region. This was reported by the APR press service by the Chernihiv Regional State Administration.
Spring cereals and legumes were sown on almost 580 thousand ha more than in the previous year.
Of these, 504 thousand hectares were sown for corn, which became the largest cultivation area of this crop in the region in its entire history. This year, Chernihiv agrarians increased the sown area of corn by 96 thousand hectares compared to 2018, which was a record in its cultivation area - 407.9 thousand hectares.
Sunflower occupied more than 201 thousand ha or 97%, remaining at the level of last year. Soybean was sown on 84 thousand ha or 73%. The area of its cultivation this year decreased by 22 thousand hectares.
5.1 thousand ha were occupied by sugar beets, which amounted to 92% of the planned volume. This year, the region’s farmers cut their cultivation area by 0.6 thousand hectares.
Considering the area occupied by the cultivation of winter crops and perennial grasses, the sown area under the current crop is about 1.3 million hectares, which exceeds the indicators of 2018 by more than 25 thousand hectares.
