A resident of Hassox shared his joy after growing the largest tomato he had ever seen. Terry Hicks planted a tomato in March this year, and received a fruit weighing more than 1.5 kg.
Hassox is a large village and civilian district in the Mid Sussex area of West Sussex, UK. “I was amazed that he had reached such a size,” said the farmer about an outlandish tomato.
“This is unusual - it has been growing since the beginning of the season. This is the biggest tomato I've ever seen! ” - said Terry Hicks.
The 80-year-old farmer said he has been independently growing fruits and vegetables in his greenhouse for many years. He called the giant tomato his "pride."
Terry is a retired pensioner who is also a member of the Hassocks Horticultural Society. He said his friends were stunned by the appearance of a giant tomato.
He added that he hoped that other people in the community would follow suit. When asked if he was feeding something special on a tomato, Terry replied: “No, not really. I think this is just a trick of nature! ”
The farmer said that he used the usual top dressing for tomatoes, as well as a good compost in the greenhouse, laid at the beginning of the year.
