The recent fire at the Yasensvit poultry farm in the village of Borisi, Vasilkovsky district of the Kiev region destroyed 150 thousand chickens, as a result of which the Ukrainian capital may experience a shortage of eggs for a week. The cost of the product will cease to decline, said Alexey Doroshenko, chairman of the association of suppliers of retail chains.
As noted by Doroshenko, the poultry farm near Kiev was engaged in the production of eggs, so chicken prices will remain at the same level and the incident at the enterprise will not affect them in any way.
Mostly one of the largest companies, Mironovsky Bread Product, is engaged in poultry farming for meat in Ukraine, whose share in the overall classification is 50%. Another 12-14% belong to the Gavrilovsky Kurchatov company. Other chicken producers in the country do not "weather" in this industry.
In the egg market of Ukraine, the situation is completely different. It is controlled by four large manufacturers, each of them produces 10-15% of the product from total production. The market is not an arena for one player. And even this four cannot always agree among themselves, Dorosheko explained.
According to Alexei Doroshenko, each manufacturer owns a network of factories. Therefore, the withdrawal of one of them cannot significantly affect the entire industry. In this case, we can talk about a reduction in supply by 2-3%, because of which, for 1-1.5 weeks, Kievans may experience a shortage of chicken eggs.
The Borisov poultry farm was designed only for the needs of the capital, other regions of the country will not feel the consequences of stopping its work. Wholesalers will most likely help to resolve the situation. But the price of chicken eggs in Kiev will definitely not decrease. On the scale of Ukraine, its stabilization is possible.
