Export of beef to Russia. This was the message made by the head of the Central Department for Foreign Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus Alexey Bogdanov.
The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia imposed temporary restrictions on the import of cattle from countries that do not have official status for the absence of spongiform encephalopathy of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
“This restriction applies not only to Belarus, but also to all other countries that do not have this status. However, one should not worry, since there have never been cases of spongiform encephalopathy in Belarus, ”continued Alexei Bogdanov.“The OIE has special rules, certain methods to prove this. In Belarus, the histochemical method is used instead of the immunological one. We have been working on the transition to another method for a long time and have already developed an appropriate state program. Regional veterinary laboratories should be equipped with the necessary equipment and equipped with certain chemicals.
Several regional laboratories have already completed this process, while the rest are in the final stage. This year we will begin to take bone marrow samples from animals to monitor this disease in Belarus, ”said the head of the Central Department.
