The gross harvest of wheat in Ukraine will be a record and amount to 28.8 million. This was reported by Victoria Blazhko, consultant to Agritel International.
According to her, a feature of the new season could be an increase in the supply of food wheat as opposed to a reduction in the amount of feed grain. A similar situation was observed in Ukraine as of mid-July.
The reason was the long May rains, the most negative impact of which was felt by wheat crops in western Ukraine. As harvesting moves towards Western Ukraine, the share of feed wheat in the total grain crop may still increase further.
According to Victoria Blazhko, despite these circumstances, forecasts for wheat production in Ukraine in the 2019-2020 marketing year remain record high. Agritel International expects a crop of 28.8 tons. In turn, the USDA predicts that Ukrainian farmers will collect 29 million tons of wheat.
In general, according to Agritel, the prospects for 2019-2020 MY for the global grain market are not as favorable as previously expected. The expected significant growth in global wheat supply will not occur.
The case is in the June drought, which was recorded in the countries of Europe and the Black Sea region.
