The other day, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the state of Peru turned to foreign colleagues with a loud statement: Peruvian breeders have developed an innovative potato variety.
We are talking about tubers that are literally “stuffed” with zinc and iron - those substances that are actively involved in the fight against childhood anemia.

And the potato got its name thanks to the rich purple color - “INIA 328-Kulli Papa”. “Culli Papa” literally translated from one of the Peruvian dialects means “purple potato”.
According to the developers, “Kully Papa” is almost a champion in the content of antioxidants and is clearly superior to other potato varieties in terms of zinc and iron. Breeders also add that their brainchild is resistant to temperature extremes, frost and disease. It also feels great and actively bears fruit in the highlands. In particular, the developers themselves grew the first tubers "INIA 328-Kulli Papa" at an altitude of more than 4 kilometers above sea level.
