In the open spaces of the Ural region, which is located in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, a traditional deer slaughter campaign has begun.
It should be noted that now representatives of national communities, as well as private reindeer herders, are driving their horned herds closer to the meat processing facilities of Payuta enterprise.
At the moment, it is known about the procurement of the first thirty-three tons of venison this year. In total, representatives of the region’s industry intend to harvest at least two thousand three hundred tons of deer meat this season.
Such information was shared with the public by Andrei Revnyvykh, head of the agricultural development department of the agro-industrial complex of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
He also noted that the pace and volume of harvesting reindeer meat in 2019 will significantly exceed the performance of previous years, even though the horned livestock of reindeer has decreased from three hundred thousand to two hundred thirty thousand individuals.
Experienced reindeer herders note that in general, 2019 is favorable for the industry, since the winter season did not have sharp temperature drops, and snowfalls were soft and gentle for animals and their owners, which made it possible to prepare plenty of food for both adult livestock and and for numerous young animals.
