SRUC Veterinary Analytical Laboratory opened by Mairie Goujon, Scottish Minister for Rural Affairs and the Environment.
The new £ 1.6 million animal disease surveillance and research center aims to provide a more reliable and more effective diagnosis of animal diseases throughout Scotland.
Scottish Rural College Veterinary Analytical Laboratory, located near Edinburgh, plans to analyze more than a million samples per year. The laboratory combines new technologies, robotics and human experience to create a center of excellence in the surveillance and testing of animal diseases.Accelerated diagnosis of diseases will help reduce the response time to outbreaks to protect animal and human health and the food chain. The Scottish Government has supported the creation of a new laboratory with a low-cost loan from the Scottish Financing Council's Financial Transaction Program.
Minister Goujon said that “the new SRUC central laboratory will improve veterinary surveillance in Scotland and establish a center of excellence at the Moredun Institute, further enhancing Scotland’s animal health capacity and experience.”Share
