In the vastness of the Republic of Belarus this year, farmers intend to collect a generous harvest of melons and gourds - at least four hundred and fifty tons of watermelons.
Such data was shared with a wide audience by Vladimir Grakun, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic.
In addition, the deputy head of the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that today Belarusian agricultural producers, with the support of the authorities, are actively developing such a melon cultivation direction as growing watermelons.
Experts see in the increase in watermelon productivity indicators not only financial benefits for the country's economy and agriculture, but also consider this type of cultivation as environmentally friendly and very appropriate in the context of climate change.
It is noteworthy that such leaders as the Gomel, Brest, Grodno and Minsk regions can be called leaders of the republic in growing giant berries.
The yield of watermelon crops in Belarus is growing every year, says Vladimir Grakun. And he emphasizes that not only large agricultural producers, but also individual farmers and the country's population in personal farmsteads should increase the area for growing watermelons.
It should be noted that today the seeds of Tajik, Russian and Uzbek breeding are most popular in the Belarusian melon.
