The spread of ASF continues in Ukraine, but this does not scare foreign investors. Several companies from Europe are planning to launch new pig farms on Ukrainian lands.
Agro East from Denmark intends to open a pig breeding complex for raising 25 thousand pigs in the Zhytomyr region before the end of 2019. Vadim Shestakov, director of Agro East subsidiary Dan-Farm Ukraine, shared information about the organization’s plans. Currently, the economy has expanded and has already launched most of the production space, Shestakov noted.
2 more pig breeding farms want to open Poels Mastschweine and Tierproduktion Alkersleben in the Lviv region. It is expected that livestock of 4.5 thousand and 5 thousand pigs, respectively, will be raised on farms, said company owner Luc Johannes Jacobus in a March meeting with the head of the Lviv Regional Administration.These companies already own 2 pig farms in eastern Germany. Ukrainian farms will be built according to their model. Now foreign entrepreneurs are choosing land to implement their project. And in the future, they would not refuse to cooperate with Lviv agricultural producers.
Another project from Denmark, Goodwell Ukraine, intends to invest € 4 million in the construction of a meat factory. Investors from other countries are planning to expand their business in Ukrainian open spaces despite fresh cases of ASF.So, as of May 2, 2019, since the beginning of the year, 19 outbreaks of African swine fever have been recorded in the country, the State Food and Drug Administration said.
