The Ukrainian group of companies Niva Pereyaslavschiny acquired in Denmark more than 1 thousand pigs of three breeds: Duroc, Landras and Yorkshire. This was reported by company employees.
“Every year, in order to support the breed, we purchase pedigree animals,” said Vitaly Shakel, director of the Niva Pereyaslavschiny group of companies. “These are three breeds: Duroc - the carrier of the bacon gene, Landras - with high reproductive ability and a stable maternal instinct, Yorkshire (large white) - with extreme fertility.”
According to the director, in previous years the company had already bought boars of these breeds, and now bought 1 thousand pigs of different ages. “Such an amount is necessary for a radical renewal of repair pigs, which will subsequently become the basis of the entire breeding stock,” explained Vitaliy Shakel.
