In April 2019, over 1.6 million pike were released into the water bodies of the Kherson region, the press service of the State Fishery Agency said.

On April 19, 22 and 23 of this year, the Novokakhovsky enterprise carried out the stocking of the river. 716 thousand pike fry were released into the river. Novokakhovsky hatchery released into the reservoir 480 thousand copies of pike fry, an average weight of 113 mg.

If there is a sufficient amount of feed, the weight of the pike will quickly increase to 500 gr. Currently, the main task is to restore the natural fish population. In the future, the fish will self-renew. In 2019, the priority is the cultivation of indigenous fish. Therefore, the introduction of fry of bream, pike perch and catfish is also planned in the fishery reservoirs of the Kherson region, said Igor Dikukha, director of the Novokakhovsky hatchery.

On April 21 and 22, the Kherson Production and Experimental Plant carried out the stocking of the Dnieper near the recreation centers "Frigate" and "The Seagull." Factory employees released 434 thousand pcs. pike fry with a total weight of 78 kg.

“Stocking is one of the priorities of the State Fisheries Agency, it is an important component of the development of the fishing industry. Due to artificial reproduction, a significant part of the total industrial fish products is formed, as well as a significant replenishment of natural populations of indigenous fish species.
