According to preliminary data, Ukrainian farmers have sown 46 thousand hectares of buckwheat. Due to unfavorable weather conditions this spring, the area under the crop may not reach the projected 50 thousand ha.
At the same time, even despite a reduction in crop production this year, Ukraine will be fully provided with it, because the transitional remains of buckwheat from last year amount to 80 thousand tons, the scientist added.
It was previously reported that as of May 2, 2019, Ukrainian farmers completed the sowing campaign of spring grain and leguminous crops, which was carried out on an area of 2.1 million hectares.
The farmers of the country are interested not only in traditional cultures. Thus, the Khmelnitsky agricultural enterprise from the Vinnitsa region, which is part of the Astarta agricultural holding, first planted chickpeas on its lands, allocating 42 hectares for its cultivation.
