Delegates from the American sheep industry will visit the UK next week to dispel myths and better understand the field of sheep farming.
The six-day mission, organized by the UK Agricultural and Horticultural Development Board (AHDB), includes guided tours of numerous farms, supermarkets, the livestock market, and food processing plants.
AHDB senior export manager Susan Morris said the visit would be an ideal platform to showcase the British sheep industry and to better understand the US sheep industry.
"This is an incredibly important visit, as it will give us the opportunity to emphasize the exceptional standard and taste of the British lamb. There are some misconceptions about our sheep industry in the American market, and we hope to fix it," said Susana Morris.
“During the visit, American delegates will receive first-hand information about the manufacturing process in the UK, covering everything from a farm to a fork. We’ll look at animal welfare, product innovations, traceability, genetics and the benefits of grass-fed lamb, ”continued Morris.
In conclusion, AHDB's senior export manager concluded that the UK Agriculture and Horticulture Development Council hopes that "this mission will help our visitors return to the United States with great confidence in the meat we produce."
