Currently, the irrigation systems of the Nikolaev region are in unsatisfactory condition. The region belongs to the territories with risky farming, and if irrigation is removed, this will negatively affect the volume of the crop and the results of the work of agricultural enterprises.
The deputy of the Nikolaev regional council, Elena Donchenko emphasizes that restoration of an irrigation system should be carried out systematically and consistently by the people's representatives.
Elena Donchenko says that all objects of land reclamation and irrigation were launched back in the 60s of the twentieth century. In theory, the amount of irrigated land in the Nikolaev region is 190 thousand hectares. But in practice their number is much smaller. So, in 1993, 185 ha of the total irrigated land were cultivated, and in 2018 their number was reduced to 32 ha.
On half of the irrigated lands, the internal irrigation system has long been dismantled. According to information for 2013, the largest number of dismantles was recorded in the Voznesensky, Bashtansky and Berezneguvatsky districts.
The deputy expresses confidence that when conducting an inventory of existing facilities and networks, it turns out that the same situation is in other areas of the region.
Elena Donchenko recalled a recent case of attempts to dismantle the irrigation system in the territory of the village of Kobzartsi, Snigirevsky district, and said that there are always lovers to profit from someone else's expense.
The deputy stressed that now we need an existing program to restore irrigation systems and increase such sown areas. It already exists and Donchenko herself took part in its creation. The program is comprehensive, it includes the most important issues with which local residents turn to the deputy at each meeting.
