The governor of the Murmansk region in early 2019 set the task for agricultural and fishing workers in the region to increase the availability of fishing.
Two months have passed since the task was formulated, and during this time, negotiations have been held more than once with employees in the extractive sector and with other industry participants. As a result, a common understanding of the situation was achieved and the first steps were outlined.
From now on, the authority for the supply of frozen cod was assumed by the well-known and reputable fishing company of Murmansk. It undertook to supply 10-20 tons of fish monthly, using its own resources - about 20 vessels. To sell affordable fish in the region will be a popular trading network of core importance. It is known that this network has more than three dozen outlets that relate to shops of so-called walking accessibility in densely populated areas of large and medium-sized cities in the region.According to price experts, today in the Murmansk region cod is sold at an average price of 300 rubles. To make the price tag more accessible, the region’s authorities are taking concrete steps and intend to reduce the rate to 200 rubles under the “Affordable Fish” program. According to the Murmansk Ministry of Agriculture, there are opportunities for implementing this project in the region. According to the head of the department, Andrei Ivanov, the fleet will supply cod at a price of 175 rubles including VAT. For residents of the region, it will cost no more than 210 rubles. “This is a noticeable difference,” the minister is convinced.
