Poor seed can become a source of soil contamination with plant diseases, which are very difficult to get rid of, so you need to approach the selection of seeds responsibly, the press service of the State Food and Beverage Service of Ukraine said in a statement.

Specialists of the department recommend to remain vigilant when choosing seeds and pay attention to some tips: do not purchase seed from unfamiliar producers, choose a company that values ​​its name; buy seeds in specialized stores, not in spontaneous markets.

A bag of seeds should be in a tight package of quality paper. The gluing should be neat, and the text on the package should be well read. The following data must be indicated: contact information of the manufacturer; name and trademark, legal address of the place where the seeds were packed; culture information, variety or hybrid; weight or number of seeds per pack; batch number; crop year; germination; a document for seeds with a name and number; short information about the culture and recommendations for its cultivation.

The seller must keep accompanying documents for the goods, which he must present at the first request of the buyer. Documents must confirm the varietal and sowing qualities of seeds. It is better to save the fiscal receipt for the purchase and packaging of seeds (when opening the package it is important not to damage the place where the lot number is indicated). Having these documents, you can safely assert your rights in case of purchase of low-quality seed material, experts advise.
