In 2019, in particular, there will be significantly fewer apples and pears, according to a statement by agricultural expert Ivan Tomich.
So far, it is possible to give forecasts about the harvest of pears and apples only with great caution. It is necessary to take into account the natural regularity of the biological periodicity of fruiting of fruit trees. Such a year as 2018 happens once for 10-15 years, if we talk about productivity. This fact guarantees that 2019 will not give the same rich fruiting of gardens. That is, we can expect a fall in the volume of apple and pear crops this year, the expert said.
To more accurately determine how much less the crop will be in the current year, you need to wait for the flowering of fruit trees. Then the forecast will be more accurate, summed up Ivan Tomich.
Recall that in 2018 in the domestic market there was an excess of dessert apple in the amount of 160-200 thousand tons. The excess apple for processing was even greater. At the same time, there was a paradoxical situation with imported apples at a very high price. So, for imported apples, Granny Smith set the price at 79.9 UAH / kg, while fruits of the same variety in Ukraine were offered in bulk at 6 UAH / kg.
